In this three hour seminar and one hour workshop you learn:

  • All about maximum, metabolic threshold heart rate, or power-watts training and why it's the anchor point for setting your zones
    About the benefits of the five training zones and why and when you should spend time in each of them.
  • How much, how often, and how hard (the training load) you should exercise to achieve the minimum and maximum cardiovascular benefit.
  • How to interpret your own individual heart rate or power output numbers for health, fitness and sports performance.
  • About the emotional heart zones and how to handle stress and gain more happiness by using your monitors as a stress monitor..
  • How to use a heart rate monitor, power meter, or metabolic assessment (VO2 test) for weight loss to burn more total calories and fat as the fuel of that energy expenditure.

Participants receive a Syllabus and heart rate cards. Recommended reading if possible in advance: The Heart Rate Monitor Guidebook, available at the seminar and on our website. This seminar is for everyone - fitness enthusiasts, group exercise leaders, health-medical professionals, coaches, and personal trainers. 

Maximum Heart Rate Foundation Seminar

The Foundation Heart Zones Training Seminar is for any person who exercises or trains for a goal to achieve enhanced health, improved fitness, or get that extra 5% you need for your sports performance. Join others like you led by a certified Heart Zones Master Trainer to learn more about training in the zones - the emotional zones, the max or threshold zones, and the training zones - using a heart rate monitor to maximize your wellness.

In the three hour seminar, you will:

Seminar

  • Learn all about maximum heart rate and why it's the anchor point for your zones.
  • Learn about the benefits of the five heart zones and why and when you should spend time in each of them.
  • Add the element of training: how much, how often, and how hard (what we call training load).
  • Learn how to interpret your own individual heart rate numbers.
  • Learn about the emotional heart zones and discuss your fat burning potential.

Participants receive a Syllabus and heart rate cards. This course qualifies for 3 hours of CEUs from ACE, AFAA and USA Cycling. Recommended reading: The Heart Rate Monitor Guidebook, available at the seminar and on our website.

The Sub Maximum Heart Rate Testing Workshop is where you apply what you learned in the morning session. You will:

  • Take several tests to determine your maximum heart rate. Your tests may include any of the following: The Easy-Moderate-Hard Test, The 2 minute-10 Beat Test, The Talk Test, and/or The 2 x 4 Minute Test.
  • At the end of your testing session, have a very good estimate of your individual maximum heart rate. If you are a fitness professional, you will learn how to administer these tests in a group or individual setting.

Workshop attendees receive a packet of testing cards. This course qualifies for 1 hour of CEU from ACE, AFAA and USA Cycling.

  • Field Testing Workshop: Sub Maximum Test, Threshold Field Test, Or Power-Watts Workshop
  • Testing and Assessments using Heart Rate Monitors: Take 8-different tests to measure "How Fit You Are."

In this two hour workshop you learn or experience:

  • How to measure your maximum, threshold heart rate, or power-watt output.
  • Take the tests to measure your sub-maximum heart rate tests called The Easy-Moderate-Hard Test, The 2 minute-10 Beat Test, and The 2 x 4 Minute Test. Or, you test for threshold heart rate using the Can You Speak Comfortably Foster, the RPE, and the Subjective field tests. Or you test for threshold power using any watt-equipped cardio equipment (erg, elliptical, cycle, etc. machine).
  • What the results of your field tests mean and how to set intensity training zones.
  • And, if you are a fitness professional, you additionally learn how to administer these tests and score the results accurately for your clients, group, or athletes.
